The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Eddy Arnold, Ernest Tubb... I had been listening to Rex Griffin songs for years but didn't know it until I saw his plaque at the Gadsden Public Library in 1993.

I was a working musician and happy to find that I was running the same roads as Mr. Griffin between Gadsden, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana.

For many a happy mile I thought about this man who found a way to create employment for himself with his words and music in the jobless age of The Great Depression.

80 years ago, Rex Griffin recorded his original song, "Everybody's Tryin' To Be My Baby" for Decca Records in New Orleans.

80 years later, I'm as happy as the fisherman's cat to tell you I'm writing and directing a film about Rex Griffin and developing for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Mr. Griffin.

Please join us in our travels up and down The Rex Griffin Highway.
